Solvang Danish Days 2015 Schedule
    September 18 - 20, 2015 - Solvang, California.
Tentative 2015 schedule (all events subject to change).

September 18, 2015 - Friday

4:00 pm - Free Concert in Solvang Park
Danish musicians, Manne, perform live at the Solvang Park Gazebo, Mission Drive and First Street.

4:00 pm - Chainsaw Carver, George Kenny
Chainsaw Carver, George Kenny, will begin carving his wooden creations on Friday afternoon.

5:00 pm - 10:00 pm - Viking Beer and Wine Garden
You must be 21 years of age or older to enter the Viking Beer and Wine Garden and to purchase alcoholic beverages.

7:30 pm - Torchlight Parade
Free, All are welcome, candles provided. Parade starts at Alisal Road and Laurel Avenue.

8:00 pm - Opening Ceremonies
At Solvang Park with 2015 Danish Maid, Mia Andersen. Velkommen Street Dance follows with Danish dancers performing to live music, and a short story narrated by Randel McGee as Hans Christian Andersen.

September 19, 2015 - Saturday

8:30 am - 12:30pm - Æbleskiver Breakfast
Æbleskiver Breakfast on Copenhagen Drive and First Street.

9:00 am - Old World Artisans Marketplace
Demonstrations and artisanal hand-crafted items including Scandinavian arts and crafts, woodworking, papercutting, rosemaling, fabric art, jewelry, pottery, and the popular Danish Sisterhood Booth.

10:00 am - 6:00pm - First Street Solvang Merchant Walk
Stroll Solvang’s First Street and the unique-to-Solvang merchants. Shops will offer Danish Days deals in their storefront location.

10:00 am - 4:00 pm - Kid’s Korner
Snacks, beverages, games and fun in Solvang Park featuring LEGOS and the supervised Play and Rest Area.

10:00 am - 4:00 pm - Viking Encampment
Visit the Ravens of Odin, Norse Educational Group, as they bring Viking times to life through historical reenactments. Don't miss the Viking Age Weaponry demo on Saturday.

10:00 am - 5:00 pm - Living History Festival
Elverhoj Museum of History and Art. Artisans, craftspeople, storytellers and interactive activities for all ages. Free.


September 19, 2015 - Saturday continued

10:30 am and 1:00 pm - Randel McGee as Hans Christian Andersen
Hours of tales from Denmark’s favorite author. Saturday readings - 10:30 am at the Hans Christian Andersen Museum, and 1:00 pm at the Elverhoj Museum of History and Art.

11:00 am - 8:00 pm - Viking Beer and Wine Garden
Enjoy the outdoor beer and wine garden and help support the Solvang Danish Days Foundation.

11:30 am - Free Æbleskiver Eating Contest
Who can eat the most aebleskiver in 5 minutes? Corner of Copenhagen Drive and First Street. All ages welcome.

2:30 pm - Danish Days Parade
Enjoy all of the action including the Solvang Village Band atop the Carlsberg Beer Wagon, floats, equestrians, Village Dancers and more. The Line-up starts at 1:30 pm on First Street, between Molle Way and Oak Street.

3:30 pm - 4:30 pm - FREE Concert: US Air Force Band of the Golden West, “Galaxy”
Located at the Midgaard Pavilion Stage in Parking Lot 2, in downtown Solvang, adjacent to the Danish Days Viking Beer and Wine Garden.

5:00 pm - 8:00 pm - Solvang 2nd Century Street Party
Featuring Echoswitch, a local 80s hard rock band, performing on the Midgaard Pavilion Stage in Parking Lot 2, in downtown Solvang. Concert is free and open to the public.

5:30 pm - 10:00 pm - Danish Days Dinner Dance
Danish-style barbeque followed by dancing and live music by Area 51. Solvang Veterans Memorial Hall, 1745 Mission Drive. Tickets start at $10 per person, for the dance portion only. For more information and tickets, visit danishdaysdinnerdance.com

7:30 pm - “MADS MEN” Fundraising Concert at Solvang Festival Theate
Two-time Grammy Award-winning Danish violinist, Mads Tolling, performs in an outdoor concert entitled “MADS MEN”, celebrating the instrumental hits from the 1960s “MAD MEN” era.

2:00 pm - Children’s Parade
Parade begins at Atterdag Square, the corner of Atterdag Road and Copenhagen Drive. All children and families are welcome to join this event, no charge, and costumes are encouraged.

2:45 pm - Danish Days Closing Ceremony in Solvang Park
Danish Days Maid Mia Andersen closes the festive weekend. Concert featuring Danish musicians, Manne, to follow.
